GHANA TOURS

Participants may choose to have an optional guided tour of Cape Coast and Elmina Castles. This coastal drive, ironically scenic, takes you to the castles of Cape Coast and Elmina.

Cape Coast started as a small trading fort but soon became the largest slave trading post after Elmina castle in the world.

Elmina was built by the Portuguese in the year 1471 and became the largest slave trading post in the world. It is here that the slaves were kept until they were transported to their unknown destinations. Many Afro-Americans originated from here.

Here, historic castles and forts stand as witness to one of the world's most tragic periods, the era of the African slave trade. Cape Coast, with its beautiful coastal settings and relaxed atmosphere is the ideal location for your educational tour. This is not included in the cost of the programme. Participants pay an extra fee for the cost of these tour.
