Dear Senyo,
It is hard to believe that one
month ago I was still in Ghana!!! Well, I am back home, back
to school, and summer is almost officially over! All of my
drums made it in one piece, although one of the pegs on my
sogo splintered, and one or two axatses came back with an
extra hole! Luckily everything stillworks! I have been using
my drums everyday at school and teaching my students all about
Ghana, the culture, the music, some Ewe. They are really
enjoying all that I have brought back with me! Friday I showed
them slides of my pictures and the video of me dancing at the
festivals. They have really learned alot about West African
life and I think they got a bit of a new perspective on life
in America, too!
I just wanted to drop a quick
note to say hello and thank you for all that you did to make
my time in Ghana so amazing! I can't wait to come back and
spend some more time in your country. I hope you will let me
know when you are going to be be in the US. You are, of
course, invited to come and spend a few days in Boston. I will
show you the town and take you out and such. Please email the
dates of your trip and I will plan ahead!
Hope all is well In Lapaz! Say
hello to Ben and Ben and Donna for me! I miss you all and hope
to see you soon! I wiil be emailing the packing list and
budget and some pictures to Michael this week.
Love, Sarah Dorchester, MA

Senyo,
Good news: I have booked my
flight, so I am officially coming! I will be arriving in Accra
on Tuesday, August 3 at 7:10 pm and departing from Accra on
Tuesday August 24 at 9:15 pm.
I have visa applications and the
CATO application ready to go out, and I have already begun my
series of vaccinations. What is the next step?
I am so excited and I cannot wait
until August!
Thanks!

Mr. Kpelly,
Thank you so much for putting me
in touch with Damon Grossman. After speaking with him I am
very much looking forward to spending some time with you in
Ghana! I am hoping to get out to the institue for 3 weeks in
August. During my stay I would like to study drumming,
dancing, and crafts, particularly drum-making. I would also
like to take a tour of the Cape and Castles and visit the
Kakum National Forest. Do you think it will be possible to do
all of these things in a 3 week period? Damon had such
wonderful things to say about you, the program, and the staff,
and I am so excited to begin my adventure! Please let me know
your thoughts on availability in August and a preliminary
itinerary. I look forward to hearing from you!
